Omaha-based Midwest Eye Care, among the largest independent ophthalmology groups in Nebraska and western Iowa, is celebrating an important milestone in the use of electronic health records and enterprise practice management. August, which coincides as National Eye Exam Month dedicated to the importance of eye health, marks 20 years Midwest Eye has operated on the MedInformatix EHR technology platform.
According to Colleen Naughton, Chief Operating Officer at Midwest Eye, her practice has experienced across-the-board growth in the time since they made the switch to MedInformatix enterprise solutions. She noted a more-than-doubling of the number of physicians, a jump in clinical and administrative staff from 98 to 190 employees and the expansion of two offices and the opening of two more. More than 500 appointments are conducted each day across Midwest Eye’s 5 locations in Omaha and neighboring Council Bluffs, Iowa.
“MedInformatix has adapted to meet the evolving needs of our group and introduced innovative new technologies that have contributed positively to the flourishing practice we are today,” said Naughton, who also serves as president of the MedInformatix Ambulatory Client Advisory Board. “Ours is a relationship built on mutual trust and loyalty that has served us well in the past and I have no doubt will serve us well moving forward.”
“MedInformatix is a better company because of clients like Midwest Eye,” said Pat McGonigle, CEO of MedInformatix. “Their reputation for delivering outstanding vision care is a direct result of their commitment to implementing the most innovative technologies on the market. For more than two decades they have collaborated with us and challenged us to deliver best-in-class enterprise solutions. On this important milestone for both our organizations, we salute Midwest Eye and stand ready to serve their needs as they continue their impressive record of growth and service to their patients.”
